LifeGroups

Biblical Mandate

Acts 2:46 says of the disciples, “Day by day continuing with one mind in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they were taking their meals together with gladness and sincerity of heart”. When the church was born, God put it in the hearts of His people to worship corporately together in celebration and also in smaller groups sharing fellowship. We see from the beginning that God is a God of community. The Father/Son/Spirit relate to one another in community.

Scripture affirms God’s desire for us to develop community with one another.
  • “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is For brothers to dwell together in unity!” (Psalm 133:1)
  • “And He appointed twelve, so that they would be with Him and that He could send them out to preach,” (Mark 3:14)
  • “that they may all be one; even as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me.” (John 17:21)

At NABC, we believe in the NT pattern for gathering together for the proclamation of the Word, and for corporate worship and prayer. We want everybody in our church body to make that a priority. But we also encourage involvement in a LifeGroup. This is because LifeGroups are a great context for encouraging deeper relationships and growth in our Christian lives.

The Purpose of LifeGroups

The Bible indicates that the Christian life is to be lived out in community with other believers. Within that community we are instructed to encourage one another, serve one another, rejoice and weep with one another, correct, instruct, build up, accept and love one another. LifeGroups provide an opportunity for this to occur.

Hebrews 10:24-25 says, “24 and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, 25 not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near.” As a church, we are hopeful that our LifeGroup ministry will be a significant way to live out this exhortation.

LifeGroups Encourage:

  • The application of the Word to our lives
  • Accountability for living a godly life
  • Caring for one another
  • Service to others
  • Evangelism
  • Fellowship
  • The development of leaders

LifeGroups help us weather life’s inevitable storms. They help believers identify and work on individual spiritual gifts. They encourage personal spiritual growth.

There is a LifeGroup for you! We have groups that allow for community in a mixed generation format or groups that are more age specific. Our LifeGroups are encouraged to engage our community with the hope of the Gospel. They also will be coming alongside our missionaries to pray for and support them in tangible ways throughout the year.
